NEW - 'Save Our Hands' Massage Course

A 2 day CPD course led by Tim Bartlett, Massage Training Institute, tutor with University of Wales Institute Cardiff & BCMB, Bristol.  Accredited & Aproved by all major Associations & Organisations.
Tim Bartlett trained with BCMB (MTI) in Bristol in 2001, and has a sports & remedial massage qualification with APNT (2003), and has been teaching with BCMB since 2004. He teaches the MTI Holistic Massage diploma as the first year of the BSc in Complementary Therapies at UWIC in Cardiff. He brings his T’ai Chi practice to his work, and his awareness of body use and movement difference from working with people who experience autism. He is a member of the MTI Training Committee.
Part of the joy of massage is the physicality, engaging physically, the act of using touch to heal. Therapists must look after themselves both emotionally and physically to be able to sustain effective practice. Essentially they must protect and not over-use their fingers, thumbs, hands, wrists and backs – it’s physically demanding work!

This course will look in some depth at the principles behind saving your hands, good hand use, and techniques to protect not only fingers and thumbs, but prevent back ache and excessive strain for the therapist.   We will integrate these principles into your existing work and adapt the techniques for application in your massage practice.

Body alignment and movement will be explored in detail; using sensitivity in combination with depth, weight and pressure should follow, and enable the practitioner to keep focus and flow in their work.

Learn how to minimize strain for the practitioner, extend your existing repertoire, make deeper work easier, and stay grounded and present with yourself and your client.

Because the course is aimed at practitioners and people who massage already, please bring all your existing skills, along with an open mind and an eagerness to learn ‘in your body’ not just in your mind. Enjoy learning and sharing, and take away the principles to develop, sustain and grow your work.
Cost - £130
