This course has a credible Education Mission dedicated to supporting a high standard of training and practice, this ensures that you are trained to a high level, expecting you to honour a code of conduct and ethics laid down by the Federation and Aromatherapy Council. Upon completion of the course you will receive an Aromatherapy & Massage Diploma qualification of the highest level and also a seperate Anatomy & Physiology Diploma.
Zodiac are delighted to have Viv Hinks of Vibrant Space School of Aromatherapy teaching the Diploma Course. Viv is an expert in her field and has been practicing for many years in aromatherapy and massage. Viv has an Honours Degree in Health Studies and is a Senior Lecturer and Examainer in Higher Education. She has designed and delivered courses extensively, including past Principal Lecturer for Neals' Yard Remedies and co-written University Degree and Foundation Degree Programmes. She has been a member of the Aromatherapy Council (committee) and Council Member of IFPA and currently serves on a Department of Health Committee.
The training is around 250 contact hours which are conducted over one weekend per month, over 14 months. The course covers an extensive curriculum, as set by IFPA, and is in excess of National Occupational Standards (NOS).
The massage and bodywork element of this course go hand in hand with the practical aspects of Aromatherapy. The module will cover the history and origins of preparation of the massage couch, the working environment and physical aspects of caring for your client. The main Swedish massage techniques of effleurage, friction, petrissage and atonement will be thoroughly learned in theory and practice as well in depth aromatherapy massage and lymph drainage and the use of therapeutic massage to aid various problems. Also included in this module is a reference to the Meridian system and Eastern Philosophy.
Throughout the course you will cover the uses and therapeutic application of 60 essential oils including common name, botanical name, plant family and countries of origin, part of the plant used and method of extraction. Over 20 carrier oils will also be studied and upon completion the student will feel confident in practising in Aromatherapy and have a vast knowledge and will be be able to use aromatherapy clinically, aesthetically and holistically.

The Diploma in Aromatherapy is a dynamic, professional programme, designed to meet rising standards and the implications of integrated healthcare. Upon successful completion of the programme graduates are eligible to become members of IFPA and use the initials MIFPA.
